Crewbrief

A crew needs to know what was observed, what is being done about it, and what still prevents work from starting. Crewbrief makes those distinctions part of the interaction.

A briefing with consequences

LaborHounds is the field-operations application behind this example. Crewbrief reuses its original rules for choosing controls and suggesting personal protective equipment (PPE), then follows the briefing through crew acknowledgment.

An observed hazard without a control blocks progression. Suggested protective equipment still needs to be selected. A crew member can acknowledge reading the briefing while the condition that paused the work remains unresolved.

Follow one handoff

Start with Wet floor. The briefing begins incomplete. Choose a control, select PPE, then preview the document. Simulate the handoff to Crew B, read to the end, and acknowledge it.

Then try Suspected material. The affected-area hold stays in place after acknowledgment. The interaction records that the briefing was read; it does not claim the condition has been cleared.

What this study establishes

The demonstration uses historical example content and simulated roles. It creates no real briefing, attendance record, notification, or clearance. Nothing is saved; refreshing starts again. The examples are not current safety guidance or evidence that a selected control is adequate.

The rules come from the earlier application. In September 2026, I directed this new demonstration with AI assistance. It pairs observations with controls and keeps a live summary in view; three scenarios let you follow the handoff. It covers this workflow rather than the whole production application.

A related decision: the offline timeclock

This separate decision comes from the same LaborHounds product; the timeclock is not part of the Crewbrief demo. A technician without signal still needs to clock in and out. Review caught a replay method that depended on an index the database could not use for that operation.

I chose the alternative recorded in the project history: generate the entry’s primary key on the device, so a replay can refer to the same entry without a database migration. AI implemented the change. Subsequent review and regression cases addressed reloads, duplicate punches, and recovery when a clock-out was rejected.

The preserved history supports the decision and its tests. It does not establish field adoption.
